NO SPINNING

I've decided that table football is the greatest game every created. It's seriously amazing. There's this bar in Leipzig where you can go and have a few beers and play some table football (for free too!). The people that you play against are beyond belief though, they don't just randomly spin the players around, they always have control of the ball and when they score you don't see anything, all you hear is the ball crashing into the back of the goal. Seriously incredible.

So my Sprach- und Orientierungskurse are over tomorrow and I'm pretty glad because I'm fucking sick of getting up at 8am every fucking morning. It's doing my head in. But still, they've been fun and were an awesome way to meet new people. Keith and I met with Beate Herting as well today who was very nice. We've decided on courses we want to do but for some reason the lessons that last for 90 minutes count for 2 hours towards our 12 hour-a-week total. Win. I looked at doing "An introduction to simultaneous interpreting" but it's on Friday morning at 9:15, fuck that. Still, I'm pretty pleased with what's on offer and the facilities look to be pretty wicked, so we shall see how it turns out.

I've been watching quite a lot of British TV that I've stupidly never seen before like I'm Alan Partridge and Darkplace. I've downloaded them and as of yet have watched all of I'm Alan Partridge Season 1, it's absolutely brilliant.

Loving the massively fast internet connection and private trackers, can download at the speed of light. I've got a backlog of things to watch like a whole series of QI and Darkplace. But I have to keep my ratio above 1.0 so need to be careful.

All Midtown albums on shuffle = win.

And todays youtube lols:

No-one else will have me, only you

Yeah so after reading a couple of random blogs by people I don't even know, I've decided to start my own. I had a short-lived blog on wordpress where I made one post saying how much I was looking forward to the '06 World Cup, ha. Actually, after checking it out it seems that I deleted that post and made some rather sickening and massively wrong predicitons about the forthcoming football season:

"As people probably won’t know, I am a Port Vale supporter. Not by choice, but through the family blood-line. The new season has kicked off and we’ve got a newly rebuilt squad with high-ish expectations. Unfortunately, the hype wasn’t lived up to on the first day of the season with a 1-1 draw with Bristol Rovers at home. I was there, and we were poor. Shane Tudor looked pretty decent though, skilfull, quick and not afraid to take on his man.

Anyway, enough about mediocre League 1 football, the Premierleague has started and Chelsea have already won the title, I guarantee it. The Drog looks in good shape as well as Lampard and Pizarro. Coupled with United’s awful start, it’s all over bar the shouting I’m afraid. Looking forward to seeing Man City this season as well - Elano looks fucking amazing."

Pretty lolworthy stuff there. If anyone doesn't follow football, we are shit and we've pretty much already been relegated. And United are top of the Premierleague. It's been a depressing season which I won't dwell on.

Germany is awesome. It really is. The Erasmus scene is so much more organised that the one in Brussels. We've basically been having a 3 week Fresher's Week but with classes every morning. It's been intensely tiring and I was pretty much wrecked by Good Friday but it was all awesome.

Here are some awesome people (Keith, Pietari, Geert (can't really see him), Fergal, Christine and Hanna not pictured but equally as awesome) . It makes such a difference to actually be around other Erasmus students from day one. Yeah sure, in Belgium I had Élodie, Jo and Emilie but we have nothing really in common except for enjoying the odd joint and rap music with Élodie. They were great people though. Here there are people who like FOOTBALL and PUNK MUSIC and DRINKING SHIT LOADS OF BEER. It's fantastic.

Still doesn't mean that I'm missing Britain any less. I think I'm kinda over the living abroad thing. It's really cool being over here but the simple things like being able to watch TV in English and going food shopping and not having to search for things that you like are things that I miss the most. I want to be in Kenilworth with her and see all of my friends again. I cannot wait to work all summer at the Castle and spend time with awesome people having a great time. I can't wait to live with her in Edinburgh and spend even more time with an entirely different awesome set of friends.

I miss these people:
(awesome awesome awesome night)

(including the person that took the picture. Fucking great times in this photo.)

But I ain't really one to cry over spilled milk so I might as well suck it up as there's nothing I can do about it.

I've just got a recent obsession with vinyl records and after going to an intense party on Saturday and finding one of the hosts' vinyl collection (Hoss and Relationship of Command on 12 inch!) I've decided to dabble a bit. He/she must have bought them from somewhere in Leipzig so I'm going to keep an eye out. Still, thanks to ebay I've got my hands on a One Armed Scissor 7" for cheapness. I also saw Something to Write Home About on CD, which I've never owned but have always wanted to. I got it for £8, but fuck it. Saw a lovely A4 Rival Schools poster as well that is now mine (thank you £/$ exchange rate!). I should really stop.

Spent last night introducing Geert to Brass Eye/Day Today. He loved it. This week is my last week of classes, following which I have a week off. (Maybe time to do some diss work? Nah). I'm really up for starting proper classes and actually studying something. The EN>DE Uebersetzung class sounds really good with an English lecturer who actually appreciates having Erasmi in his class.
